A family business that shows up all four seasons
Ty's started in 2014 with a truck, a mower, and a plow, serving a handful of properties around Fairfax and Cedar Rapids. The crew has grown since then, but the way we operate has not. Ty is still on job sites. You still get a real person on the phone. And we still take on the small jobs — a single overgrown flower bed, one stump, one driveway — because those are the jobs that turn into long relationships.
What set the business up to last was refusing to be seasonal. Landscaping companies in Eastern Iowa typically go quiet from November to March, which means laying off good people every winter and rehiring strangers every spring. Running snow removal alongside landscaping let us keep the same crew on payroll year-round. The practical result for customers is that the person edging your beds in June is the person clearing your driveway in January, and they already know your property.
How we approach a job
We quote what we can actually deliver. If a retaining wall needs proper drainage behind it, we say so upfront rather than discovering it halfway through. If a tree is better trimmed than removed, we will tell you that too, even though removal is the bigger invoice. Straight answers cost us a little work in the short term and earn us the referrals that keep the schedule full.
What we handle
Between the crew we cover landscape design and installation, retaining walls and paver patios, lawn mowing, aeration and overseeding, fertilization and pest control, weeding, tree trimming, removal and stump grinding, land clearing and brush removal, egress window installation, fence repair, and residential and commercial snow removal. That range means most properties can be handled by one contractor instead of four.
Who we serve
We work throughout the Cedar Rapids metro and the surrounding Linn County communities, including Marion, Fairfax, Hiawatha, Robins, Palo, Springville, Mount Vernon, Atkins, Walford, and Swisher. Check the service areas page for the full list, or see recent work in our project gallery.
